There's usually a moment when shooting these that determination wavers and the body commands the brain to go inside. That's usually right after the first blast of wind hits. By the time you seriously start to consider it, you're already soaked so you might as well stay.
Then there's the moment you question how good your weather sealing is, or whether your rushed ziplock bag tape job is doing any good. But the water's already on the front element, so you might as well leave it. And with the right lighting, it probably looks pretty cool anyway.
Then there's the moment when you see the wall of rain coming. That's when you know there's little visual interest in shooting a grayed out movie wash. That's when I picked up and ran, and was doing the math on how close I parked versus how overbearing those clouds were in chase. That's when you regret your choice of footwear for the day.
