Found fabric, intaglio and monoprint, quilting; ceramic with underglaze
This is a diptych of sorts. The quilt is made of patterns and images from the penny royal plant, an abortificant in the mint family. I ate penny royal as a teenager, trying to end a pregnancy, a result of abuse. I've never wanted to be a mother, but still, my decision stays with me, an internal reminder of who I could have been, the choices that form a life, the ghost of the past traveling inside you.
This piece will be in Poeisis, curated by @stef.ani_e , opening September 20th at Art Access Gallery in Salt Lake City. I'll be there if you'd like to speak about the piece or just say hello.
