Anguilla local food is rather simple lots of bbq plus sides. I’m been going between the red snapper & mahi mahi because they are exceptionally fresh & delicious here. Sunshine Shack’s grilled red snapper with sides, then Bankie Banx’s mahi mahi with real locals sides (plantains, peas, grilled aubergine, cold slaw, & rice/beans, then Manoah’s creole style red snapper. Plus pair yourself with some Caribbean beer, you got yourself meal!

I know so many travellers rave about the Galápagos, but holy shit - this isolated archipelago still managed to obliterate my massively sky-high expectations. 🐢 I can’t count the number of times on this trip where I stopped dead in my tracks, looked around, and thought, is this real life?! 🐢 I’m still trying to figure out how to put my Galápagos experience into words, but I’ll start with a photo of one of my favourite wildlife sightings: a blue-footed booby, perfectly perched on some rocks near Black Turtle Cove on Santa Cruz.

Almost 10 years ago, I was in Germany. Wow, even saying that makes me feel old already.⁣ ⁣ I was on an exchange program to Freiburg, a little town with cobblestones and shops that close on Sundays.⁣ ⁣ The opportunity to travel around Europe was really fun. Hamburg, Germany was one of the places that I went during my time there.⁣ ⁣ If you do get a chance and have kids, I highly recommend the train museum. It was SO MUCH FUN! I was basically like a kid who took so many pictures and then my camera died.⁣ ⁣ This was almost 10 years ago, okay. My phone was a... actually, I don't remember what I had. LOL⁣ ⁣ Anyway, if you are looking for a sample itinerary, I wrote one of my blog. Check out the link in my bio and search up "Hamburg". ⁣ ⁣ Have you been to Hamburg, Germany?

it is iceland after all — i have tons of ice content coming your way! i thought this part of the glacier we explored looked so amazing. sadly, due to global warming, this gigantic 800-year-old glacier is melting rapidly and is expected to completely disappear within the next 200 years. the area we drove through to get here will eventually be completely underwater. difficult to imagine, but beautiful to witness. #iceland . . . . #speechlessplaces #globelletravels #tlpicks #sheisnotlost #dametraveler #iamatraveler #discoverearth #goopgo #wearetravelgirls #passionpassport #travelgram #postcardplaces #darlingescapes #abmtravelbug #finditliveit #neverstopexploring #justgoshoot #exploremore #liveunscripted #livelittlethings #momentslikethese #makemoments #pursuepretty #momentsofmine #suitcasetravels #mydomainetravels #mytinyatlas #prettylittletrips #guardiantravelsnaps

Is there anything sweeter than this pretty little patio garden at the Wellington? You’ll never want to leave this three-bedroom and three-bathroom house spread out over three levels. AD | Gelato anyone? In between immersing myself in Roman history and gasping at baroque masterpieces, I’ve spent a fair bit of my time in Rome stuffing my face with pasta, pastries and pizza. I’ve been relying on my @marcopologuides to show me the best trattorias and dining spots that the city has to offer and in Giolitti, it provided a gem. Established in 1900, it’s Rome’s oldest gelateria and I doubt the interior or the servers uniforms have changed much since those days.

Thank you for all the lovely comments on yesterday’s post and particularly for the love for photo 2, which may just have to have its own place in my gallery. . Today my daughter and I went into Bath to run some errands and thought we’d pop into The Bath Bun for lunch. We were given the choice of sitting upstairs or downstairs and plumped for downstairs. Having sat down and been given the menus, I wondered what the upstairs was like. After a quick peek upstairs and deciding it was cuter (is that even a word?), we asked if it would be ok to change our minds an go upstairs after all. ‘That’s fine’ he said. . Up we go and make ourselves comfy only to realise we’ve left the menus downstairs. So, instead of giving our order, we have ask for the menus to be brought up (same guy as before). ‘That’s fine’ he said. He gets the menus and we order. . Now what I haven’t told you is, it clearly states on the menu that it is ‘cash only, no debit or credit cards’. That’s fine I say to Hannah, I’ve cash I my purse . . . very rare occurrence for me, but I lost my debit card on Sunday (don’t ask) and so had brought cash out with me. As I said this I reached for my purse, just to check I had enough cash, only to find it wasn’t in my bag. I’d left it in the car after paying for the car park 🙄 It gets worse. Hannah didn’t have her card on her (she could have ran to an ATM) because she’d given it to me yesterday (in case I needed it) and guess what, it’s in my purse and my purse is in my car. . With no way of paying, I had to run back downstairs to tell ‘the guy’ to cancel our order because, dot dot dot . . .That’s fine’ he said. And we left 😆 Ever get the feeling you’re not suppose to do something? Oh my goodness, what a palaver. I bet he was glad to see the back of us, haha. Maybe next time 🍃🧡🍃

After Hurricane Irma, Anguilla had to start basically from scratch & rebuild much of the island. Many beach bar/food snacks were torn up by the hurricane but many have been rebuilt & so is much of the island. Bankie Banx is a bit of an institution in Rendezvous Bay where the DJ keeps mentioning that Justin Beiber performed here when he found out I’m from Canada.

Rendezvous Bay is an absolute sight. Fine powdery white sand with clean aqua blue water. Heavenly.

The afternoon was rather temperamental with the tropical rain & became rather chilly but it eventually turned out great for the sunset. Views from the smaller cove of Meads Bay.

Spent much of the day in Mead’s Bay. The best thing going for Anguilla is that there’s tourism but it’s still not as crazy as the other islands in the Caribbean. There’s people but there’s still a sense that much of this paradise is still yours to enjoy. Go to Leon’s & have their amazing blackened Mahi Johnny cake burger plus fried conch.

Last minute trip booked to SXM & a quick taxi ride to Marigot, the French side, to hop on the local ferry ($20 one way) to Anguilla, an island of 13k people & the location for several top beaches in the world. Finally, some island life.
