WhatsInOmnisHead: My former boss, who is now recognized as one of Asia's Women Leaders once told me that when somebody sends you an email, text, or any form of message, you have to reply within 24-hours. These people took time to message you because their concern is important to them and replying is a sign of respect. If you don't have the answers, the least you can do is to acknowledge their message and let them know that their concern is being handled with urgency. Let them know they are not being ignored.
I carried this discipline even on personal matters. This is why I always feel the need to respond to any comments, direct messages, and other form of messages especially those sent via SMS, as soon as I open them. And doing so allowed me to earn people's trust. On the flip side, I also wonder why some people couldn't do it.
Then I realized, seemingly small disciplines like this are the the ones that separates winners from those that are stuck in mediocrity. It is not always the ability that leads people to success. It is availability.
I have witnessed this many times.
People going up from one rank to another not because they are the best ones. But because they are the dependable ones.
People getting the best opportunities not because they are the brightest but because they were there when the opportunity knocked.
People who get noticed not because they are the best but because they made themselves more visible than those who chose to rest in their laurels.
Yes, excellence is key to success. But excellence is not only about skill set. 99% of the time, it is about attitude. Discipline. Character. That is displayed in seemingly small actions. 💚 #mombosslife #omniandbryce #TheClingyFam
