I’ve been planning to shoot my surplus of freshly laid eggs for about a week now. I’ve had a half-thought-out plan of a vintage wire egg basket on a vintage style chair, moody lighting, etc, etc. I was about to shoot this morning, when an email popped into my inbox. The question it posed - Are you authentic? More specifically, are you shooting the work you think other people will like rather than the work that sets you on fire? Was my vintage-style idea somebody else’s passion? Maybe it was. I scrapped the plan and thought a bit deeper. What sets ME alight? What excites ME? I’ve been posting a bit of rustic, moody type work recently, and I am pleased with it, but only pleased, not excited. The one post, of super minimal asparagus, was really my style, and I think it must’ve shown as it scored more than double the ‘likes’ of the other veggie posts (I know we’re not really supposed to count any more)
Anyhow, here’s my true-to-myself version of a basket of eggs. I took a series. I was in my happy place and brim full of energy. No idea if anyone else will like it, but so what!
