thyssenkrupp Test Tower Rottweil, 2014-2017, by Helmut Jahn and Werner Sobek is a 246m tall elevator test tower. It also features Germany’s highest visitor platform, at 232m.
The tower is used to test new elevator technologies and it features 12 shafts, which allow elevators to travel up to 18m/s.
The concrete structure is veiled by a fabric sheath made from fibreglass cloth, which gives the tower many different looks depening on the weather and time of the day.
