BEFORE: the very last photo I have of her beautiful mermaid hair before her first ever haircut at age four years and nine months. Half of her hair was snipped away in mere minutes. I felt mixed parts of happiness at her excitement and utter sadness at yet another sneaky reminder that my only baby is growing up so quickly before my eyes.
I found myself watching quietly as her curls fell into silent swirls on the floor. Stepping back I captured memories of this occasion for us to celebrate her special visit to the hairdresser... stepping forward I crouched low to kiss her warm head before collecting her soft, sun kissed caramel and chocolate locks of hair from the floor. Am I mad for doing this? To treasure her hair?? My thoughts drifted to wondering about when she will lose her first tooth... Can you relate? If so, please share how you store locks of hair from their first haircut as a tiny keepsake of their youth.
When I look at this photo I see a little girl struggling to stand still when she’d much rather run in the sprinkling rain with her dog. Tiny droplets dust her nose and hair. I just love her expression!
How old were your babies when they had their first haircut?
