He’s knows he’s the star. 😹 On a more serious note— we almost lost him right before we moved from WA to TX a few weeks ago. In the wake of losing my grandpa and moving my life 2000 miles, it was an added devastation. He is only 9 years old, but suddenly dropped TEN pounds and became so lethargic he wouldn’t purr and would barely move. He started hiding under the deck, digging himself a hole in the dirt. He refused to eat or drink. Cat lovers know when cats do this, they’re preparing to die. We took him to the vet and they ran blood tests and gave him fluids. He didn’t improve. We took him back—to the emergency pet hospital because it was a holiday weekend, they gave him more fluids, and diagnosed him with diabetes. I was informed I’d have to learn how to give him insulin injections twice a day. He still refused to eat, so I had to force feed him kitten purée in a syringe. I cuddled with him for hours every night, begging to hear him purr again. He started to improve and eat on his own. I’ve taken him to his new vet here 3 times and we’ve switched his insulin, his diabetes is well-controlled, and I’m so happy he’s back to himself, slowly putting weight back on, feisty, loving, and purring loudly again.
