I rarely ever take/post pictures of myself. Maybe it’s because I enjoy photos of nature like most people, or maybe it’s because I struggle with taking photos of people, even myself. Either way I think it’s important to see the person behind the camera every now and then, and not get lost behind photos. While I do see myself in the photos I take, I do recognize that people can sum up my identity to an shot of an animal or intimate scene I’ve taken. I know this isn’t the type of photo you’d like to see from me, but to me this is important.
I took this photo yesterday. I had a lovely day in the washes of Zion’s east side searching for intricate cracked mud with a group of bighorn keeping me company. I wanted to utilize my good mental health in the moment for a quick photo of myself. Also, because it’s been well over a year since I updated my profile pic, and in that time a lot has changed. So, this is me. Sweaty, tripod reflection in my glasses, with a pretty sweet hat, in my favorite place. Howdy.
