Write things down. A line or two in your notes app - journaling in the 21st century. Do we really have time for anything else? There’ll be a time stamp of the joke you laughed at so hard you cried only to not find it funny the next week - concrete evidence of growth. Note down the moment you felt you couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, couldn’t see past the blurry mess in front of you and read it back months later, and wish that you could tell yourself how everything worked out. Spill your feelings on to the blank page about him or her and feel the burning cringe when you accidentally come across it in the future. Don’t delete it. It was you at some point - it was real. When the blinking cursor stares back at you, waiting for words when you have none, leave it empty. A day you couldn’t describe. Heavy at the moment, but lost in the chaos when you try to remember it again - gone forever. Good riddance? Maybe. But write things down. A word. A phrase. A paragraph with no punctuation. Taste life twice, three times, even four, the sweet and the sour, a different tinge each time, but hold on to it. It’s all you.
